The Ethiopian government and the European Commission have jointly launched the EU’s Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) for the period 2024-2027.
The MIP will provide EUR 650 million in grant funding to support development programs focused on three priority areas: Green Deal, Human Development, and Governance and Peace. The program is aimed at improving the living standards of all Ethiopians.
Both parties underscored that the launching of the new cooperation framework provides an opportunity to refresh and further strengthen the long-standing historic partnership between Ethiopia and the EU.The EU’s MIP is a strategic planning document that outlines the EU’s development cooperation priorities for a specific country or region over a period of seven years. The MIP for Ethiopia is aligned with the country’s national development plan and the EU’s Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy.The MIP is expected to make a significant contribution to Ethiopia’s efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the lives of all Ethiopians.
